This week, we celebrated in the best possible way – by welcoming our 2026 Study Toowoomba Ambassadors.
Held at Ortem Cafe, the evening was filled with energy, connection, and heartfelt moments as we marked the beginning of a new year for our Ambassadors.
Our Study Toowoomba committee, proudly supported by Mayor Geoff McDonald and local Councillors & TRC CEO, presented each Ambassador with their official certificate and welcome pack.
A special thank you to our MC for the evening, Councillor Melissa Taylor – not only a valued Study Toowoomba committee member but also a passionate advocate for our international student community.
We were honoured to have Mayor Geoff McDonald in attendance. His inspiring words and the thoughtful gift of a Toowoomba violet lapel pin to each ambassador was a highlight of the evening.
Committee members Tammy Wilson and Laureen Ratenbach were present to represent Study Toowoomba.
Apologies were received from Peter Homan, Chair; Kim Schultz, Treasurer; Ren Yi, Deputy Chair; and Monique Tudman, committee member – all of whom sent their best wishes.
This year’s Ambassadors represent the valuable international students who come to Toowoomba to Study, Work, and Live – with students from India, Thailand, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, and Peru, studying at both UniSQ and TAFE Queensland.
As Ambassadors, they’ll help bring to life what it means to live, learn, and belong in our beautiful region. We can’t wait to share more of their stories in the weeks ahead.
A big thank you to Matt Ryan for capturing the magic of the evening through his lens.
