Toowoomba Grammar School is a Prep – Year 12 all boys’ boarding and day school established in 1875. We are a GPS school with 1,211 students, including 280 boarders and are one of the largest boys’ boarding schools in Queensland. We see our school as a ‘boarding school’, not a ‘school with boarders’.

We are proud to be one of the oldest and most highly regarded boys’ boarding schools in Australia, providing a home away from home for boys for almost 150 years. Our boarders come from all over Australia, Papua New Guinea, Europe and Asia. TGS promotes a culture of diversity and inclusivity and our boys respect and value differences, welcoming students from all backgrounds and cultures.

TGS offers all the opportunities available at similar schools in metropolitan areas, but has the advantage of being based in a relaxed, regional city. Toowoomba is very warm and friendly — an ideal place to raise a child.

Local businesses are extremely supportive and offer our boys employment, apprenticeships, traineeships and work experience. This helps us provide great pathways and opportunities for our students; contributing to the boys’ well-being and helping them find their passions.

Our boarders can participate in a plethora of co-curricular programs, from mountain biking and sport to chess and performing arts. Weekend activities range from trips to the beach to movie nights.

We aim to not just educate boys, but to help them develop their good character for life. Young men graduate from TGS with the skills to be independent, successful, and well-balanced, having the ability to rise to the challenges of life.

Year 12 boarder from Bologna, Italy, Brando Parlato said:

“TGS always has so much positive energy. There’s always something to do, and you’re never alone.”

“All the boys and the staff have respect for each other. We are like a family and support each other. I love the kindness of the people here, their warmth, and they never let you down.”
