The Festival of Chariots

Jul 24, 2024 | News

The streets of Toowoomba come alive with cultural celebrations, Mayor Geoff McDonald and councillors, along with State Member Trevor Watts, joined the procession and celebrations.

The Festival of Chariots (Jagannath Rathyatra) is a grand procession filled with vibrant colours, music, and an atmosphere of peace and positivity. This festival symbolises unity and harmony, bringing people of all backgrounds together to pull a royal chariot through the streets. Atop the chariot sits the Lord of the Universe, who comes out to greet the people. The festival comes to the people, not the people to the festival.

Our community is diverse, inclusive, and multicultural.

We were so fortunate to have His Holiness Vedavyasapriya Swami join us. He is a travelling monk who helps spread this beautiful culture around the world.
