Study Toowoomba saw a change of leadership as Chair, Councillor Nancy Sommerfield stepped down at the recent AGM. As a representative of Toowoomba Regional Council, Cr Sommerfield led Study Toowoomba through a period of significant growth.
“Councillor Sommerfield’s leadership has left us in an excellent position, and I look forward to building on her accomplishments,” said incoming Chair Peter Homan, CEO of Southern Queensland Country Tourism.
The AGM also saw the re-election of Professor Ren Yi, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) of UniSQ as Deputy Chair and Kym Schultz, Business Manager of Concordia Lutheran College as Treasurer.
Marty Lock, Manager, International Engagement and Communications, TAFE Queensland International Education and Tammy Wilson, Director of Advancement at Toowoomba Grammar School returned as Committee Members, alongside Councillor Sommerfield who will continue until she finishes her term on Council in March 2024.
“I am thrilled to continue on the Study Toowoomba committee,” said Tammy Wilson. “Toowoomba Grammar School has a proud history of hosting international students, and I am eager to continue promoting the high quality education offered in our region.”
Study Toowoomba supports local educational institutions in attracting and supporting international students to study, live and work in Toowoomba.
