We are always one of the strongest advocates for the Toowoomba region, and we’re deeply committed to bringing more international students here.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Southern Queensland, we are fortunate to now have our ELICOS programs established in Toowoomba – not just for adult student cohorts, but also for under-18 students. From quarter four this year, we will officially begin teaching our Secondary School Preparation Program (SSPP) at the UniSQ Toowoomba campus. We also resumed our EAP (English for Academic Purposes) teaching operations here in May.
This means we can now offer a clear, end-to-end pathway for international students and their parents. Previously, one of the barriers identified by our education agent partners was the lack of ELICOS programs in the Toowoomba region, which often meant students transitioned to Brisbane or other regions before entering mainstream schooling or university.
With the ELICOS program now in place, we have the full circle: ELICOS, schools, TAFE, and university – all right here in Toowoomba. A student can start with the ELICOS program, progress to school, move on to TAFE, and then to university, without leaving the region.
Our vision is for these students to fall in love with Toowoomba, stay here, and ultimately become ambassadors who share their positive experiences with others across the world.
