Study

My journey in Toowoomba began with a dream of expanding my knowledge in the field of Business Analytics. In July 2023, I embarked on my Master of Information Systems, specializing in Business Analytics, at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ). The program is designed to build critical business and IT skills, enabling me to thrive in today’s ever connected and digital world. My studies have taken me through exciting industry-relevant topics like data visualization, business intelligence, artificial intelligence, and social media analytics, all of which help me drive data-driven decisions in the workplace.

With graduation set for July 2025, I’m halfway through this transformative journey. The program also offers unique opportunities for hands-on experience with industry partners and certification pathways that enhance the learning process. This exposure to real-world challenges is preparing me to step confidently into the business world.

Work

As a travel enthusiast, my passion for the tourism sector naturally aligned with the opportunity to work as an Insight Officer at Queensland Country Tourism (QCT). Recently, I joined QCT, where I analyze various datasets, identifying trends and patterns that influence regional development. This role has been a perfect fit, allowing me to combine my love for travel with my skills in data analysis. Working in such a supportive environment—predominantly powered by talented women—has been incredibly rewarding, and I feel fortunate to be part of this inspiring team.

In addition to my role at QCT, I’ve been working as an Assistant in Nursing at Salem Aged Care for the past year. After earning my Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability), I developed the skills necessary to provide compassionate care to residents. This position has not only supported my living expenses but has also taught me valuable lessons in empathy, patience, and dedication. Balancing both roles has enriched my professional journey, providing me with diverse experiences that complement my academic and career growth.

Live

I’ve always considered myself a bit of an influencer when it comes to travel, inspired by my elder brother, who has been a true example of a travel enthusiast. He was the one who first introduced me to the beauty of Toowoomba, taking me on countless adventures. Whether it was camping, hiking, or embarking on a spontaneous road trip, he showed me the hidden gems of the region and fueled my love for exploration. His passion for travel has left a lasting impact on me, shaping my own journey and adventures.

I’ve always enjoyed art and trying new things, so when I had the chance to participate in a bracelet-making workshop as part of a mental health well-being program at USQ, I jumped at the opportunity. It was a refreshing and therapeutic experience, blending creativity with mindfulness. Exploring art and other creative activities has been an important part of maintaining balance in my busy life.

Being a student ambassador for Study Toowoomba has been a privilege, connecting me with incredible individuals and opening doors to new opportunities. I am deeply grateful to the program for introducing me to people who have positively shaped my journey. A proud milestone in this role was receiving my very first personal business card, representing Study Toowoomba, a moment that symbolized my personal and professional growth.

A standout experience was attending the 75th floral parade during the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, where I was invited by Mayor Geoff McDonald and enjoyed the festival from VIP seating. This unforgettable event, showcasing the vibrant culture of Toowoomba, is one of many highlights that have made my time here truly special.

I’ve also had the pleasure of attending various business events, my first business dusk event, organized by Ray White Commercial. It provided an incredible opportunity to meet local business leaders and professionals, and to my surprise, I even won a gift hamper in the business card lucky draw! Moments like these highlight the welcoming and vibrant nature of Toowoomba, making me feel right at home.

My second chamber event, the Business Excellence Awards, was equally thrilling. It was a night dedicated to celebrating the success and innovation of local businesses. I had the chance to network with inspiring individuals and captured a few cute selfies to commemorate the evening! Attending these events has been both motivating and empowering, fueling my passion to contribute to this community’s growth.
