Today’s ToowoombaRegionalCouncil meeting brought forth exciting plans for study tours, opening doors for cultural exchange and enriching experiences right here in Toowoomba!

From January 8-29, 2024, Toowoomba is gearing up to welcome our sister city, Paju in SouthKorea, all made possible by the facilitation of UniSQ. HaruhigaokaHighSchool from Kasugai, Japan, will be embarking on a study tour in February-March 2024. And come July 2024, MishimaHighSchool from our sister city, Takatsuki, will visit with the support of CentenaryHeightsHighSchool.

Negotiations are in full swing for an inaugural study tour from our Chinese Sister City, YuechengDistrict. UniSQ and CentenaryHeights are working on a proposal for a 5-day tour involving 30 students, tentatively set for August 2024. CouncillorNancySommerfield expressed at the TRC council meeting the importance of including StudyToowoomba & new President, Peter Homan, in these plans. “His insight will truly enhance the experience for our students,” she shared.

Peter Homan echoed the enthusiasm, stating, “I am thrilled to hear this news and will work closely with all key parties to support positive outcomes for the students on tour and to support our region.” Our ToowoombaRegion has so much to offer—from picturesque lakes and enchanting forests to the chance to get up close and personal with our iconic Australian animals.

We welcome visitors to what we believe is the perfect place to STUDY, WORK, and LIVE. ‘We will do all we can to make these study tours unforgettable for everyone involved. Our region is ready to showcase its beauty and extend the warmest hospitality to the world!’ Peter Homan
