Downlands College is a Prep to Year 12 independent, Catholic, coeducational, day and boarding school.

Established in 1931 by the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC), our heart-centred approach promotes academic excellence, encouraging students to integrate faith with life and to develop a love of learning. At Downlands, each student is a part of a family built on strong traditions.

Downlands offers one of the broadest curricula on the Darling Downs, providing the widest choice of secondary school study options. By supporting both university and apprenticeship pathways, the College caters for everyone, including siblings with different strengths and abilities. As school should be a place to learn about life, our coeducational school reflects the world in which we live.

Boarding is integral to the Downlands community, and our boarders are the heart and soul of the College. Downlands offers boarding for students from Year 6 through to Year 12. We are often the boarding school of choice for many rural families in Queensland, New South Wales, Northern Territory, and international students. Up to 300 students and eight residential staff call Downlands home during school terms.

Established in 1931, Downlands welcomed day boys and girls in 1971 and has been fully coeducational since 1993. Coeducation has the advantage of keeping families together – brothers and sisters can stay, live and grow up alongside each other, forming memories that last a lifetime.

All international students enrolled at Downlands College will be boarding students and reside in one of the College’s boarding houses, under the care of our boarding staff.
