A Month of New Beginnings: My Journey as a Study Toowoomba Ambassador

Oct 6, 2025 | Ambassador Posts

If someone had told me a few months ago that I’d be standing shoulder-to-shoulder with leaders, councillors, and changemakers of Toowoomba while holding a certificate that says Student Ambassador, I probably would’ve smiled and thought, “One day, maybe.” But here I am-on the 2nd of September 2025, that dream turned into reality.

🎉 The Beginning – A Welcome Like No Other

The journey started with the Welcome Ceremony for the 2025/26 Student Ambassadors of Study Toowoomba. Picture this: a room filled with bright faces, council members, former ambassadors who had once been in our shoes, and the ever-supportive Study Toowoomba committee. It wasn’t just a ceremony; it was the start of something bigger-a year of representing the voice and vision of students in this vibrant city. Holding that framed Certificate of Recognition in my hands felt surreal. It wasn’t just paper and ink-it was a promise. A promise of growth, connections, and the chance to give back to the community that has given me so much.

☀️ Breakfast with Toowoomba’s Finest

Fast forward a few weeks, and I found myself sitting at a breakfast buffet-but not just any breakfast. I was there on a special invitation from Mayor Geoff McDonald, which made the morning even more meaningful. Imagine sipping your coffee surrounded by the people who are literally shaping the future of Toowoomba. From inspiring leaders to guests from neighbouring states, every handshake and every story reminded me how much heart goes into making this city better every single day.

🎖️ The Parades – A City in Celebration

On the very same day, thanks again to the Mayor’s special invitation, I had the chance to witness two unforgettable celebrations: The 7th Signal Regiment Australian Army Freedom of Entry Ceremonial Parade followed by the Grand Central Floral Parade.

The army parade was powerful-horses, uniforms, the sound of boots hitting the ground-it felt like history marching right past me. (Check out the picture of the mounted police, they looked straight out of a movie!)

And then the Floral Parade… wow. For the very first time, I got to witness Toowoomba bloom in all its glory. Floats bursting with color, smiling faces, and the kind of joy that only flowers and community spirit can bring. It wasn’t just a parade; it was a moving canvas of culture, creativity, and pride.

Gratitude 💙 and What’s Ahead

None of this would’ve been possible without the people who make Study Toowoomba what it is. A huge thank you to Mayor Geoff McDonald for the warm invitation, to Councillor Melissa Taylor, Laureen Menne Rautenbach and Kim Cahill for their invaluable guidance, and of course to Study Toowoomba for trusting me with this role.

This is just the beginning of my ambassador journey. I’m excited for the stories yet to be written, the friendships yet to be made, and the countless ways I’ll get to share why Toowoomba isn’t just a city you study in-it’s a city you belong to. I am looking forward to the wonderful experiences, learnings, memories, and stories ahead-while inspiring many others and being a part of their journey.

So, here’s to the next 12 months: more experiences, more memories, and a whole lot of blooming!

(📸 Sharing some snapshots of this incredible month-because moments like these deserve to be celebrated!)
