Study: Embarking on my journey in 2024 as a Bachelor of Information Technology student at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) has been an incredible experience. Majoring in Software Application Development, I’ve delved into the fascinating world of coding, system design, and problem-solving. My studies have not only broadened my technical expertise but have also instilled a disciplined approach to learning and innovation. The support from my professors and peers has been invaluable, creating a nurturing environment that encourages academic growth. Toowoomba’s serene and focused atmosphere perfectly complements my academic pursuits, making it an ideal place for personal and professional development.

Work: Balancing work and studies have been a rewarding challenge. As a production technician, I’ve gained hands-on experience in problem-solving and teamwork, skills that resonate with my aspirations of becoming a software application developer. This role has taught me resilience and adaptability, traits essential for a successful career in the tech industry. The experience has further fuelled my passion for technology and innovation, reinforcing my goal of starting my own software development business in the future.

National Leadership Forum 2024: Participating in the National Leadership Forum 2024 in Canberra was a transformative experience. Sponsored by UniSQ, this forum offered an exceptional opportunity to engage with influential leaders and peers from across the nation. The discussions and activities not only enhanced my leadership skills but also inspired me to think critically about my goals and contributions to society. The event was a cornerstone in shaping my personal and professional identity, equipping me with insights and connections that will last a lifetime.

Life as a Student Ambassador: 2024 marked a turning point in my life when I was selected as a Study Toowoomba Student Ambassador. Being nominated by Peter Homan and awarded a certificate of recognition by Mayor Geoff McDonald was a proud moment that filled me with gratitude and motivation. Since taking on this role, I’ve had the privilege of representing Toowoomba’s vibrant student community, participating in impactful events, and promoting the city as an ideal destination for education and growth.

Iconic 75th Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers: Attending the iconic 75th Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers was a highlight of my year. Invited by Mayor Geoff McDonald’s office, I experienced the celebration of community spirit, stunning floral displays, and cultural performances. The carnival showcased Toowoomba’s rich heritage and brought together residents and visitors in a celebration of nature and creativity. It was an unforgettable experience that deepened my connection to the city.

Business@Dusk Event Hosted by the Toowoomba Chamber: The October Business@Dusk event hosted by the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce was another enriching experience. Networking with local businesses and understanding their strategies for success provided invaluable insights into the region’s entrepreneurial spirit. The event highlighted the collaborative and innovative atmosphere that defines Toowoomba’s business community, inspiring me to contribute to this dynamic ecosystem in the future.

Going Back to India with Joy: As the year comes to a close, I’m preparing to return to India second time, carrying with me a wealth of experiences and memories. From academic achievements to community engagement, this journey has been transformative. Sharing my Toowoomba story with family and friends back home will be a joyful moment, as I reflect on the growth and opportunities I’ve experienced in this incredible city.

Community Service Award from UniSQ: I was deeply honoured to receive the Community Service Award from UniSQ in recognition of my contributions to the community. This achievement reflects the support and encouragement I have received throughout my journey and reinforces my commitment to making a positive impact. It is a milestone that inspires me to continue serving and connecting with the community.

Christmas Lights in Toowoomba: One of the most magical moments of the year was witnessing the dazzling Christmas lights in Toowoomba. The city transforms into a wonderland of illuminated streets, festive decorations, and community celebrations. Strolling through the vibrant displays with friends brought an incredible sense of joy and togetherness, showcasing the warmth and spirit of Toowoomba during the holiday season.

What I Love About Toowoomba: Toowoomba has become my second home, a place where every corner tells a story of growth and community. I love its peaceful environment, well-connected amenities, and the warmth of its people. Whether I’m playing cricket at local grounds, enjoying serene moments at Picnic Point or Queens Park, or exploring the cultural richness of the Japanese Garden, Toowoomba offers a blend of relaxation and inspiration. Its vibrant festivals, welcoming community, and rich heritage make it an ideal place to live and learn.

2024 has been a transformative year—a year of learning, leading, and living my dreams. From excelling in my studies to embracing opportunities as a Student Ambassador and participating in memorable events, every moment has been a stepping stone toward a brighter future. I am excited about what lies ahead and look forward to continuing this enriching journey in the heart of Toowoomba.
